about me

Even though I am more often referred to online as rogueclown, my real name is nicolle neulist.

I am interested in making a career in information security, but I also understand that merely knowing how to type a few commands does not a competent security professional make. A deeper understanding of how computer systems work, as well as of how people interact with computer systems, is vital. I spend my time studying computer networking, systems administration, as well as information security, with the goal of gaining enough knowledge, training, and experience to excel in the field.

Currently, I work for a managed data center services company in Chicago. Even though I've been playing around with computers for a long time, it is my first job in information technology. I love it; the work is varied, and it is giving me a kind of large-scale context for my skills that I had never been able to gain without working around an enterprise-level network day in and day out.

I used to be an attorney, but those days are behind me. I am no longer performing any sort of legal work for any person or entity, and I do not intent to ever again. This fact makes me very, very happy.
